Mike Uwandi is a creative director and visual strategist whose work spans across art direction, concept design, and narrative consulting across film, television, and games. Known for shaping iconic worlds and reimagining beloved IPs, he has brought his vision to projects like Moon Knight, Wicked, Dungeons & Dragons, Blue Beetle, Star Wars, Star Trek: Picard, Predator: Killer of Killers, and Fortnite.
As an Art Director and Concept Artist, Uwandi has collaborated with premier studios including Marvel, Netflix, Warner Bros, ILM, Disney, DC, and Sony—helping define tone, worldbuilding, and design language at a strategic level. He has contributed to Emmy-nominated series including The Mandalorian, Moon Knight, Westworld, and The Book of Boba Fett.
In addition to his visual leadership, Uwandi has consulted on script and cultural development for Netflix and DC—ensuring grounded, globally resonant storytelling. He’s recognized for bringing bold creative thinking to established franchises while championing innovation and inclusion behind the scenes.
Uwandi also co-founded the 9B Collective—the first Black-owned visual development studio—where he lead creative initiatives that drive more representative storytelling in entertainment. Through partnerships with the BRIC Foundation, Vijona, and the Compton Alliance, he supports access and mentorship pipelines for emerging talent.
A frequent speaker at global institutions and creative summits including the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, LightBox Expo, Playgrounds Festival, and Comic-Con. Uwandi remains committed to building ambitious, resonant content that reflects today’s world and reshapes tomorrow’s narratives.
